🛡️ 1. Privacy at a Glance

TRYDR operates a peer-to-peer carpooling matching service in Hyderabad. We believe in minimal data collection, maximum transparency, and strict accountability:

  • Zero Data Brokerage: We never sell, rent, or trade your personal or commute data to third-party advertisers or data brokers.
  • Commute-Specific Purpose: Your route, phone number, and timing are processed solely to match you with compatible daily commuters and facilitate your shared travel.
  • Selective Disclosure: Only your verified first name, pickup location, and vehicle details (if you drive) are shared with a mutually confirmed commute partner.
  • Complete Control: You may request complete erasure of your data ("Right to be Forgotten") at any time via WhatsApp or email.

2. Definitions & Scope

This Privacy Policy governs the collection, processing, transfer, storage, and erasure of personal data by TRYDR ("we", "us", "our", or "the Platform") through our website (https://trydr.in), official WhatsApp conversational workflows, registration forms, and customer support channels.

For the purposes of this Policy, the following terms have statutory meanings as defined under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"):

  • "Data Principal" ("User", "You"): The individual to whom the personal data relates — including Drivers offering rides and Riders seeking rides.
  • "Data Fiduciary" ("TRYDR"): The entity which alone or in conjunction with other persons determines the purpose and means of processing personal data.
  • "Personal Data": Any data about an individual who is identifiable by or in relation to such data.
  • "Processing": A wholly or partly automated operation or set of operations performed on digital personal data, including collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, retrieval, use, alignment, sharing, or erasure.

3. Categories of Information We Collect

In accordance with the principle of Data Minimisation, TRYDR collects only the digital personal data strictly necessary to establish identity, assess route compatibility, and facilitate peer-to-peer carpools:

Technical Metadata Browser user-agent, rough IP-derived city location, referring URL, and session analytics. Collected automatically via standard web server logs when visiting trydr.in (no invasive third-party cross-site trackers).

4. Lawful Basis & Consent

Under Section 6 of the DPDP Act, 2023, TRYDR processes your personal data on the basis of free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous consent signified through an affirmative action:

  • By ticking the consent checkbox or submitting the registration form on trydr.in; or
  • By actively initiating or responding to a carpooling match request through our designated WhatsApp Business channel.

You have the statutory right to withdraw your consent at any time with ease equal to the manner in which consent was given. Withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing undertaken prior to such withdrawal.

5. Purpose of Processing

We process your personal data exclusively for specified, legitimate purposes:

  1. Algorithmic & Curated Matching: Analyzing origin, destination, and commute schedules to connect you with co-commuters travelling the same route in Hyderabad.
  2. Trust & Community Verification: Verifying basic identity, vehicle eligibility, and corporate affiliations to foster a safe, accountable community of working professionals.
  3. Trip Facilitation: Introducing matched commuters via WhatsApp, providing pickup landmark details, and enabling direct peer-to-peer coordination.
  4. Safety & Incident Resolution: Investigating reported community guideline violations, safety concerns, or vehicle discrepancies.
  5. Statutory Compliance: Adhering to applicable Indian laws, including court orders, police inquiries, or statutory notices issued by authorized law enforcement agencies under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

6. WhatsApp & Meta Platform Disclosures

TRYDR utilizes WhatsApp (a service operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.) as a conversational interface for commute intake, match recommendations, and notifications. Please note:

  • End-to-End Encryption: Communications directly between your personal device and WhatsApp servers are protected by WhatsApp's Signal encryption protocol.
  • Platform Data Policy: Your use of WhatsApp is independently subject to WhatsApp's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. TRYDR is not responsible for Meta's independent processing of network metadata or device identifiers.
  • Official TRYDR Contact: TRYDR communicates exclusively via its verified business number (+91 62811 42313). We will never request bank account passwords, debit/credit card CVVs, or UPI PINs.

7. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We adhere to strict information access controls. Personal data is disclosed only under the following limited circumstances:

A. Between Matched Commuters

When a ride match is established, we share strictly necessary operational details: your first name, verified workplace tag (if provided), pickup point, and for drivers, vehicle make/model and registration plate. We do not disclose your home address, exact GPS coordinates, or financial details.

B. Trusted Service Providers (Data Processors)

We engage vetted cloud hosting providers (servers located within the Republic of India) and messaging gateway partners bound by strict non-disclosure, confidentiality, and data protection agreements compliant with Indian regulations.

C. Law Enforcement & Statutory Authorities

We may disclose personal data to law enforcement, judicial bodies, or regulatory authorities only upon receipt of a legally enforceable summons, court order, or written notice issued by a lawful authority under Section 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (or Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023) or Section 69 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

8. Data Security & Storage

We have implemented technical and organizational measures to safeguard personal data against unauthorized access, accidental loss, alteration, disclosure, or destruction:

  • Domestic Storage: In compliance with data sovereignty guidelines, all TRYDR database records and logs are stored securely on encrypted cloud infrastructure hosted in data centers within India.
  • Encryption Standards: Data in transit is secured using Transport Layer Security (TLS 1.3 / HTTPS). Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 standard encryption.
  • Access Controls: Access to user commute information is strictly role-gated to authorized personnel on a documented need-to-know basis.

9. Data Retention & Erasure

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or to comply with statutory legal obligations (such as dispute resolution or tax records):

  • Active Commuters: Data is retained while you actively use the Platform to receive commute matches.
  • Inactive Profiles: If you do not interact with TRYDR for a continuous period of twelve (12) months, your profile data is marked for automated purge.
  • Immediate Deletion on Request: You may submit an erasure request at any time. Upon receipt, your personal profile will be deleted from our active databases within fifteen (15) business days, except where retention is mandated by law.
