At TRYDR, we believe the safest rides are built on verified community identity, mutual accountability, and commonsense precautions. Because TRYDR operates as a peer-to-peer technology matching platform:
- You travel with verified fellow working professionals and university students heading your direction.
- Every commuter must actively observe personal safety steps before, during, and after every ride.
- We maintain a zero-tolerance standard for dangerous driving, harassment, or intoxicated behavior.
2. The 5-Point Pre-Boarding Checklist
Before opening the car door or sitting inside any vehicle, complete these five mandatory checks every single time:
- Match the Registration Number: Physically inspect the license plate on the front and rear of the vehicle. Confirm that every letter and digit matches the vehicle registration provided in your TRYDR WhatsApp match confirmation. Never enter a car with a different license plate.
- Verify Make, Model & Color: Check that the car's make and color (e.g., White Hyundai i20, Grey Tata Nexon) match your booking details.
- Ask the Driver's Name: Greet the driver and politely ask: "Hi, who are you picking up today?" or confirm their name before announcing yours. Never board a vehicle where the driver cannot identify you or gives an unfamiliar name.
- Check Driver Sobriety: Visually assess that the driver is fully alert, sober, and free of the smell of alcohol, slurred speech, or erratic behavior.
- Inspect Vehicle Condition: Ensure the car has functioning seatbelts, clean seating, and operational door locks.
3. Live Location Sharing Protocol
We strongly encourage every rider and driver to share their live journey status with a trusted family member, partner, or close friend.
- Open your WhatsApp chat with your trusted family member or emergency contact.
- Tap the Paperclip icon (Android) or "+" icon (iOS) next to the text input box.
- Select Location → choose Share Live Location.
- Select 1 hour (or the estimated duration of your commute) and tap Send.
- Send a brief message with the vehicle number plate and your expected arrival time.
4. Seatbelts & Mandatory Road Safety Standards
Under Section 194B of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, seatbelt compliance is mandatory for both front and rear vehicle occupants:
- 100% Seatbelt Buckle-Up: Every passenger in a TRYDR carpool must buckle their seatbelt before the vehicle starts moving. Drivers have the right to refuse transport to any passenger who refuses to wear a seatbelt.
- Zero Speeding & Stunt Driving: Drivers must strictly obey posted speed limits, particularly on the Outer Ring Road (ORR: maximum 100 km/h / 120 km/h depending on section), flyovers, and arterial corridors (HITEC City, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Financial District).
- No Mobile Phone Distraction: Drivers must not text, browse, or hold mobile phones while the vehicle is in motion. GPS navigation must be mounted securely on a dashboard cradle.
- Zero Intoxication: Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or narcotics is a criminal offense under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and results in immediate permanent ban and law enforcement escalation.
5. Safe Boarding and Drop-off Zones
To prevent accidents and ensure personal security, commuters must agree upon pickup and drop-off points that meet our safety criteria:
- Well-Lit & Populated Public Spots: Choose visible landmarks such as Hyderabad Metro station gates (e.g., Raidurg, Hitec City, Durgam Cheruvu, Miyapur), commercial tech park entry plazas (Mindspace, Cyber Towers, DLF Cyber City), or reputable fuel stations.
- No Hazardous Highway Boarding: Never arrange pickup or drop-off on express highway fast lanes, narrow flyover ramps, or unlit service roads where stopping poses a collision risk.
- Respect Local Parking Laws: Drivers must pull safely into designated service lanes or drop-off bays without obstructing traffic or violating Hyderabad Traffic Police regulations.
6. Women Commuter Safety & Dedicated Support
TRYDR is deeply committed to providing an empowering, secure commute experience for women professionals across Hyderabad:
- Women-Only Match Preference: When registering via WhatsApp, women commuters may request matching exclusively with other verified women drivers and riders on their route.
- Verified Workplaces: Prioritize matches with commuters verified through official corporate email domains (e.g., Microsoft, Google, Amazon, TCS, Infosys, Deloitte).
- Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Any unsolicited personal messages, inappropriate inquiries, comments regarding appearance, or invasive behavior will result in an immediate permanent ban and direct forwarding to Hyderabad SHE Teams.
7. Two-Wheeler Safety (Ride-Along Protocol)
If you participate in two-wheeler carpooling:
- Mandatory Helmets: Both the rider and the pillion passenger must wear an ISI-certified helmet with a securely fastened chin strap (mandated under Section 129 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988).
- Rain & Weather Caution: During monsoon downpours in Hyderabad, rides should be postponed or rescheduled if road conditions, water-logging, or visibility make two-wheeler transit dangerous.
- Passenger Count: Strictly one pillion passenger per motorcycle or scooter. Overloading is strictly prohibited.
8. Emergency Response & SOS Protocol
If at any point during a commute you feel physically endangered, threatened, or observe reckless driving:
- Speak Up Firmly: Instruct the driver in clear terms: "Please stop the vehicle at the next petrol station / metro station. I am stepping out."
- Exit in a Public Area: Exit the vehicle at the nearest well-lit, populated intersection, police checkpoint, or commercial establishment.
- Dial Emergency Services Immediately: Use the direct emergency contacts below.

- Provide screenshots or photos where applicable and safe to do so.
- Our trust and safety team reviews reports within twelve (12) hours. Confirmed safety infractions result in immediate platform suspension and permanent blacklisting.
